We Know HOBY Works
At the HOBY New York West Seminar, more than 130 high school sophomores are led by an all-volunteer staff of approximately 60-75 HOBY alumni to help and guide these ambassadors through three key types of leadership – individual, group and societal – via an extensive series of panel discussions, hands-on activities and service projects.
Each year, schools are faced with tough economic challenges, and fewer are willing to think of HOBY at budget time. You can have a direct impact on the personal growth and development of young adults in our community. Our ambassadors are encouraged to donate 100 hours of community service within a year of completing our program, ensuring that they give back to the community that is supporting them.
In the last three years, HOBY New York West ambassadors logged nearly 5,000 community service hours via our online system. Additionally, we receive countless messages from alumni about how HOBY changed, challenged and inspired them. That’s how we know HOBY works.
How Can You Help?
Contributions range from $50 to $5,000. However, many donors choose to sponsor students. The cost to sponsor 1 student is only $215. This will guarantee a local sophomore a spot at our seminar who otherwise would not be able to attend due to financial hardships of his or her school and/or family. By becoming a sponsor, you will receive recognition in our program book, on our social media channels and on our website. Additional benefits may be arranged if requested.
HOBY New York West is Western New York’s local 501(c)(3) chapter of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation. All donations are tax deductible.
